About Total Image Works Limited
Total Image Works represents the merger of two esteemed Canadian fine art printing studios: Toronto Image Works, founded by Edward Burtynsky in 1986, and Print Partner, established by Andrew Collett in 2009. This union combines decades of expertise, innovation, and a shared commitment to excellence in fine art and photographic printing.
Toronto Image Works:
A Legacy of Innovation and Excellence
Founded in 1986 by internationally acclaimed photographer Edward Burtynsky, Toronto Image Works began as a space for artists to access professional-quality darkroom facilities and expert film processing. But it quickly became much more—a center of excellence where craft, education, and innovation converged.
As Burtynsky’s own photographic career rose to international prominence, so too did the standards of the studio. Every print that left Toronto Image Works had to meet the exacting demands of one of the world’s most meticulous image-makers. That culture of uncompromising quality shaped the entire team—and earned the trust of some of Canada’s most respected artists and institutions.
When the industry shifted to digital, Toronto Image Works stayed ahead of the curve by offering cutting-edge digital imaging and media training, without ever compromising its commitment to print excellence. Today, many of the master printers and technicians who helped realize Edward’s iconic large-format works remain part of the Total Image Works team—bringing that same level of care and perfection to every client they serve.
Print Partner: Craftsmanship Meets Fulfillment
Founded in 2009 by photographer Andrew Collett, Print Partner quickly gained recognition for its museum-quality printing and personalized service.
With a foundation in traditional photographic values and an eye on emerging technologies, the studio became known for its dedication to craft and efficient production techniques.
In addition to serving galleries and fine art photographers, Print Partner specialized in white-label fulfillment for volume artists and online retailers—handling everything from print production to drop shipping, all under the client’s branding. This made it a trusted behind-the-scenes partner for some of North America’s most prolific image-makers.Every archive is unique.
