The Signature Finish of Edward Burtynsky

For decades, Edward Burtynsky, one of our founders, has trusted the Total team to produce his signature presentation style: a photographic gloss print mounted on Dibond with an art matte laminate. Sleek, modern, and gallery-ready, this combination offers exceptional visual depth while protecting the image from UV, dust, and moisture and is archival to last decades without fading or changing in colour.

We bring this same level of care and precision to every artist we work with—whether you’re producing one piece or an entire edition.

Lamination & Finishing

Protect your prints with our professional lamination services. We offer matte laminate finishes up to 60″ x 120″, which not only preserve your work but give it a refined, non-reflective surface ideal for gallery display or high-traffic environments.

Acrylic Face-Mount Prints

Acrylic face-mounting is the most contemporary way to present a photograph without a frame. Your print is bonded face-first to a sheet of optically clear acrylic, which adds depth, luminosity, and a seamless, glass-like surface, while a rigid backing keeps the piece perfectly flat. Each face-mount is hand-assembled in a dust-controlled environment, so no particles are trapped behind the acrylic.

We produce acrylic prints in three options

  • 3mm acrylic face-mount up to 60 by 120 inches
  • 3mm non-glare acrylic up to 48 by 96 inches for brightly lit rooms
  • 6mm acrylic up to 48 by 96 inches for larger pieces that need extra rigidity

Custom sizing is available, and we’ll advise the best thickness for your image and where it will hang.

Finished pieces are fitted with a recessed subframe on the back, so they float slightly off the wall with no visible hardware — gallery-ready on arrival. Acrylic resists moisture and everyday handling, making it a durable choice for homes, offices, and high-traffic commercial spaces.

Your print is bonded face-first to a sheet of optically clear acrylic, creating depth, brilliance, and a seamless edge, with a rigid backer for stability. Each facemount is hand-assembled in a clean, dust-controlled environment. It’s the most contemporary way to present photographic work without a frame.

An acrylic print bonds the image behind clear acrylic for a glossy, dimensional look. A mounted print is bonded to a rigid backing such as Dibond, foamboard, or Sintra for flatness and durability, usually with a laminate. Acrylic is presentation-led; mounting is protection-led.

Mounting gives a clean, frameless, contemporary presentation and protects the print with a rigid backing and optional laminate. Framing adds glazing, matting, and a decorative border suited to traditional or conservation display. Many clients mount photographic work and frame works on paper — we can advise on your specific piece.

Lamination applies a protective film over the print surface, guarding against UV, dust, moisture, scratching, and handling. A matte laminate also gives a refined, non-reflective finish ideal for gallery walls and high-traffic environments. We laminate up to 60 by 120 inches.

Mounted and facemounted pieces are finished with a recessed subframe or cleat on the back, so the piece sits flush or floats slightly off the wall with no visible hardware. Larger works use additional support, which we fit before shipping. We also offer professional installation across the GTA.

Dry mounting bonds a print permanently and evenly to a rigid substrate using heat-activated archival adhesive, eliminating ripples and waves. It produces a perfectly flat surface that stays flat over time, which is why it’s standard for exhibition and commercial display work.

Yes. We mount posters, promotional graphics, and commercial prints to foamboard, Sintra, or ACP, with optional laminate for durability. It’s a common choice for offices, retail displays, trade shows, and high-traffic spaces where prints need to survive handling.
